Dr. Bingxian Xie focused on glucose/fatty acid metabolism before joining Delgoffe lab in 2022. Dr. Xie used the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp to investigate insulin-resistance in mouse models. Also, Dr. Xie used working heart perfusion system to analyze heart metabolism ex vivo. Dr. Xie got his Ph.D. training (Biology) in Nanjing University. Then, he moved to the University of Pittsburgh for his post-doc training in 2017.
After learning that metabolism may reshape immune cell function and potentially improve cancer immunotherapy, Dr. Xie decided to devote the remainder of his academic career to metabolic studies of immune cells. Therefore, he joined the Delgoffe lab as a postdoctoral associate. In the future, Dr. Xie will use isotope tracers to study different metabolites in immune cells and their relationship to immune function. He was recently promoted to Research Scientist in the group.
