Catarina Azevedo is graduated in Biochemistry (2017) by University of Minho in Portugal and obtained her Master in Health Sciences from Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS/ University of Minho - Portugal; 2019). Her MSc project was conducted on immune-oncology field focusing on the effects of immune checkpoints inhibitors in glioblastoma.
In 2020, Catarina joined the Immunology, Cancer & Glycomedicine Group coordinated by Salomé Pinho at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S/U.Porto), working as a research fellow in a project focused on the impact of abnormal glycan expression in cancer immunoediting, as well as in a project on the role of glycans in IBD immunopathogenesis.
Catarina is now a PhD student in Biomedical Sciences at University of Porto - ICBAS and she is currently on a Fulbright Scholar at Delgoffe’s Lab. Her project is focused in understanding the impact of T cell N-glycosylation in CRC and in its precursor lesions, envisioning the reprogramming of T cell glycosignature as a novel and preventive immunotherapy for CRC prevention and treatment.
